The digital transformation of the industry is based on possibilities of the "Internet of Things". Central element are cyber-physical systems. These are physical objects provided with a software component which are networked with each other and are able to handle tasks in value added chains together. The initiative "Industry 4.0" offers first concepts for the fulfillment of requirements on CPSs, Industrial Internet of Things. One of the central starting point is the so called asset administration shall (AAS) as the digital representation of assets. For all types of assets their own AASs must be developed. Main target of this project is to detail existing approaches for the definition of AASs and make it suitable for daily use. Therefore a configuration wizzard for a configurable implementation of AASes must be developed. A challenge is to make AASs within an I4.0 system interoperable. This will be achieved by the usage of a formal information model of the AAS. The information sources for every asset type must be mapped into the formal AAS model by configuration. The correlation of data from assets into the information model of the AAS is supported by intelligent methods.
